Here to Stay or On the Way {Out}: French Script

Happy Weekend, friends!

Today I'm stenciling my bedroom (hint hint) preparing for a fab surprise giveaway coming up Monday.  I needed a quick break so I thought I'd do a fun little survey.  (Are surveys ever fun??)

Anywho, as a lover of decor and design I always find it interesting to see what trends last more than a year (or sometimes a season).  I like to use my "decorative intuition" to guess these things as I see new trends appearing or hanging around.

I thought it might be fun to do a survey (again, fun survey = oxymoron) called "Here to Stay or On the Way {Out}" once a month or so to see what my bloggy decorating peeps think.

What say you?

Fun or Dumb?

Ok, don't tell me if you think this is a dumb idea, just don't take the survey and when no one responds I'll get it that it's dumb. Thank you.

So, the first (and maybe the last) "Here to Stay or On the Way (Out)" survey will be for decorating trend French Script.

I decided not to tell you what my answer to the survey is because I don't want to sway your opinion and the results of my very scientific and fun survey.

Here are some examples for you to check out before you take the super fun one question survey at the top of this post. :)

What does all this French Script say anyway??  Besides "amore" it could be a bunch of curse words for all I know. :)

Ok, time for my "fun" survey!!  :)  Please feel free to comment as to why you feel the way you do about French Script.  I'd love to hear all about it!

  1. I love the look of French script but I never actually made/bought anything with it. I thought it was lovely but it just didn't fit with my style. I'm going to come back soon and see what everyone else thought!

    Best wishes,
    Natasha.

  3. I hope it doesn't! Although I'm sure if it does, it'll be right around the time that I get around to using it myself...haha!

  4. It's a trend. Enjoy it while it's "in". I like it very much, but won't be committing to it except as an accessory.

  5. I love it, although I have just one pillow with French works on it. I think it works with alot of styles too!

  6. I agree with Mel. I see it as a trend, but one that is clearly enjoyed by many. I love the look, but every time I try to work it into my decor, I can't seem to make it work. Like many trends, once they become super popular, they kind of lose their appeal to me.

  7. I think it will be here for a while. I'm not sure it will be as much as it is now, but I think it will always be around on some things. Great idea. Hugs, Marty

  8. The French script itself maybe a sort of "trend". However, a rather quick study of styles, be it in decorating or wearable fashion, will show styles have been influenced by the French styles for literally centuries around the globe. Why? Hmmmmm...maybe cuz that's what the French do best :-) At any rate, I always say if you truly love it, use it! If you're decorating with a "trend" you don't like/love, not only will you not love it today, but you won't like/love it tomorrow.

  9. I also love the look of French Script. It doesn't fit into my Primitive Style decor, but I appreciate the elegance of it. It's French, and therefore exudes travel and romance....I think it will always be around in some form. This survey is fun.. I think it's interesting to see the views of many. NOT dumb at all! ; )

  12. Anything French will always be fashionable. Expect maybe for berets. That's my opinion. ;)

  13. I like the look when used sparingly. A tasteful item adds something to the room. I too have thought about the chest as a possible piece for my house :)

  15. I love the flow of the french script and could love it forever. When you you saw chinese charaters they could be anything also. All those people with the tattoos on them may say some really bad things. LOL

  16. I LOVE it and have it on 2 lampshades. I'm contemplating kitchen chairs in it, but am thinking it might be too much of a good thing.

  17. to anonymou, try using the script fabric on only the 'head chairs' of the table. coordinate with other fabrics for the other 2 to 4 chairs. I love the script look and cant wait to redo my new room in it! Im looking for upholstery fabric to redo a great yard sale find! i got a winged back chair..solid, full cusions for only $10! Im considering doing only the front cushions in script with a solid matching back fabric..not too much of the script to be overwhelming. but really either way it would look good! great look!
