Hey party animals!
It was brought to my attention last week that the Pinterest pin it P logo was popping up over all of the thumbnail links in my party. I didn't realize this was happening. I had recently added a widgit to my blog that would automatically put the Pinterest pin it P over all of my blog images when you hover over it with your mouse. I had no idea it would work on my party thumbnails since those photos were not being added through blogger. I do not want people to pin your links to my blog, I want people to go to your blog and pin from there... which I'm hoping is what most people would do.
Anyway, I removed the Pinterest widget but now I'm bummed because I'd like to have the Pin It button come up on my blog post pictures. So, I'm asking for your opinion. If I add my Pinterest P widget back to my blog and put a BIG, BOLD disclaimer to only pin links from the original blog and not my link up would you still party with me? Do you know of any alternatives for Pinterest buttons? I just have the tiny one at the bottom of each post which I don't think is enough. What should I do??
No Pinterest hover buttons tonight so party on...
(How many of you are thinking "What in the world is she talking about?!") If you don't get it, don't worry about it, no big thing. :)

I noticed the P on the pics. I always pin from the original source but not everyone does. Thanks for hosting another great party! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI don't know a lot about the whole pinning thing on blogs, but I would think it would be totally fine if you put the Pinterest widget back on with a big disclaimer to pin from the original source. I know I'd still party with ya! :) Anyway, thanks for hosting each week!!
ReplyDeleteTricky situation! I'd go for it and hope that people follow the rules.... (?)
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting Kate and enjoy the rest of your week!

I have that same issue at my blog but I am guessing that anyone who hosts a linky party and who has that widget would too. I wouldn't want to pin anything that small myself so I thought I'd leave it on my blog and hope that most people think like I do! I would love to know what you decide!
ReplyDeleteThanks for having me today. Hope you have a great weekend.
Best wishes,

Thanks for hosting!

Hello Kate,
ReplyDeleteI would love to put the pin it button too in all my images. But, I don't like to put it in my linky party. How I wish there is an On and OFF option of the pin it button. I also don't like the pin it hover effect, because when I click the image it will direct me to pinterest pin it thing when I want to check the source. But, it is all up to you Kate. Whatever your decision, I would still link up in your lovely party :)Cheers!

There is a html code to remove the hovering pin it button on certain photos. I'm sure this could somehow be incorporated with inlinks. :D
ReplyDeleteHope that helps. I have noticed this problem on many blogs.
There is a way! :D
Thanks so much for the party!!!!

ReplyDeleteI say leave it on. I have the same problem but I put a HUGE disclaiminer on my parties asking people to pin from the original source. Also, I make my button small and to the right of pictures so that during link parties it's not hovering on top of the thumbnail. You can check it out at my blog, where I have parties on Tues and Fri.
Thanks for hosting today!

Thanks for the party! I will still link up with the pin it button!

I think as long as you put a disclaimer or note it would be fine. There are so many linky parties we link up to that have that widget. Most people should know to pin from the original site anyway. It's kind of important Pinterest etiquette. :) Don't stress! Thanks for the linky! ~ Angie @ The Dating Divas
ReplyDeletehoney I have no advice for you
ReplyDeleteI just slide by myself
thanks for hosting this party today and always
Thank you for your party! I agree with most that you should keep it on so that it's convenient for you. Most people go and pin from original source I would think.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend, and Happy Friday! Julia
I'd keep linking up. I think as long as you have a disclaimer it's okay. It's a risk anytime you get featured or anything- people get lazy and don't want to click over to the original source before pinning. So it's a risk I'd be willing to take.:) It's your blog so it would suck for you to not be able to have a feature that would help you just because of a glitch with the linky party. Anyone who is really bothered by it doesn't have to link up, but I'm betting there will be plenty who aren't worried about it. Have a great weekend and thanks for hosting!
ReplyDeleteHey Kate! Splendid party, my friend!! Thanks so much for hosting.... :)

Thanks for hosting! I've heard there's a way to turn the Pin-It Hover Button on and off for certain images through the code. I can't remember which blog I saw that on, but it might be something to look into. Either way, I'll still party!

Thanks for hosting Kate! I would say just put a disclaimer in the beginning of the link-up and keep it on! A lot of link parties have the same pin-it button on their links and I think most people know to pin from the original source! I found this on Pinterest's website: https://help.pinterest.com/entries/23624997-Add-a-widget-to-your-website (scroll down to bottom where it talks about disabling hover button) - It might help but not sure if you'd have to do that for EVERY image?! Anyway, I think you're fine to leave it on so you can use it for your regular blog use! Sorry for the huge comment, loL! Hope you have a great weekend!

Thank you so much for the party! I agree most people know to pin from the source!
