What's happening? Can you believe we are more than half way through September already?!?
I totally can't!
Since this season is my favorite and it seems to fly by I try to get my pumpkins out in the first week of September. This year I did some tweaking to my Fall mantel because I added an aqua table to my family room. I also didn't want to spend a lot of money (surprise!) so I basically rearranged stuff I already had.
The only thing I purchased for my mantel this year is the cutie aqua chevron burlap ribbon half off at Hobby Lobby.
This is one of those old wreaths I've had forever that was this close to going in the garage sale this Spring. I'm glad I didn't sell it! I haphazardly wrapped the chevron ribbon around this old wreath to give it some color.
The smallest pumpkin on the candlestick on the right was attacked by some crazy varmint while sitting on my back porch one night. The back of it is all scarred up but this pumpkin is a survivor, that varmint didn't have a chance! Lucky for me he only got one side of it.

To Fall-ify my fireplace hearth I added some faux pumpkins to my big Target basket and wrote "Harvest" on the chalkboard label. I'm sure people will really think that I harvested those plastic pumpkins but whatever, it looks pretty cute I think. I stuck a couple more fake pumpkins in my lantern. I'm thinking I need a bow or something on there to add some color. We'll see....
I really like the touch of aqua in my fall decor. I'm excited to share the rest of the room with you soon.
Did you use any nontraditional colors this Fall??

love your mantel...I am loving the nontraditional colors for fall...I decided to do more bright colors in my wreath I made a couple of weeks ago...my whole house is decorated in fall colors basically so when fall comes around I like a little change. who knew that aqua could go with the fall colors...very cute!
ReplyDeleteHi Kate,
ReplyDeleteAlthough I am mostly passionate about primaries, your aqua and orange combination this fall is quite refreshing, and reminds me of the autumn sky above the orange ground outside! Lovely!
Happy weekend!
Poppy
Love the combo of orange and aqua - I have an aqua front door, so I love this time of year when I can add pop of orange on my wreaths!
ReplyDeleteI am super jealous of the pumpkins you grew! We tried to grow some this year and they just didn't make it. Maybe it was this Texas heat, maybe we planted them to early?! Oh well, we'll try again next year! Love the aqua and orange color scheme you have going on!
ReplyDeleteKate, this is a great color combo for the season! Really love your homegrown pumpkins too! Please share this over at Stylish Friday Finds! My readers would love to see your mantle!
ReplyDeleteHave a stylish day!

I love your mantel, Kate!! I've always liked the color combo of orange and aqua. I love your little owl too. :) We tried to grow pumpkins one year...the vines took over our entire backyard and we didn't get a single pumpkin. LOL! You did a great job with yours though! They're the perfect size for decorating!
ReplyDeleteLove your fall mantle! I never thought of pairing aqua (which I love) and orange but it totally says "fall" to me!
ReplyDeleteStopping by from TDC link party. I posted my Fall Hutch.
DeleteGreat mantel, love your use of aqua and orange. I used these colors too. Come over and take a peak.
ReplyDeleteKate, I love your mantle. So funny because I bought the exact same ribbon (also at 50% off!) in aqua and orange. I literally just posted the project I made with the orange one: http://thrifterindisguise.blogspot.com/2013/09/diy-burlap-chevron-bunting-for-fall.html!
