Easy Kitchen Upgrades

Hello, friends!

Did you know that upgrading your kitchen is one of the easiest ways to add value to your home?

Yes?!

Don't think you can afford it??

Well, upgrading your kitchen doesn't mean a total gut job and spending tons of money.  You can easily do upgrades to your kitchen yourself while on a budget.

I've got kitchen upgrades on the brain as I'm right in the middle of doing some kitchen upgrades myself!  So, what a perfect time to introduce you to my sponsor, PlumbTile. PlumbTile is a family owned decorative plumbing marketplace with over 750,000 brand name products.  But don't let their name fool you, they carry all kinds of stuff besides plumbing and tile!

One of my favorite DIY upgrades is adding new hardware to your kitchen cabinets.  This is so easy and makes such a big difference.  We changed out our hardware to cup pulls shortly after moving to our home several years ago and it made such a difference.  I painted my kitchen island a few weeks back and kept the classic cup pulls as I still really like them and they go with the farmhouse look that I'm going for.

PlumbTile has this similar cup pull in 12 different finishes here.
Another easy way to upgrade your kitchen without breaking the bank is to add a tile backsplash.  We are planning on using the ever classic white subway tile.  I am still trying to decide what size to use.  I like this large size of 4"x 8" tiles found here.  The hubs is going to help me with this job as I've never done tile before but from everything I've read it is definitely a DIY job worth tackling.  And, adding a backsplash will definitely add value to your kitchen.

Another value adding DIY project for your kitchen are new light fixtures.  We are planning to replace our pendant lights over our island and the dreaded builder-grade boob light (ugh, so embarassing)  over the kitchen sink.  I am considering a pretty pendant light like this one found at PlumbTile.

A little bit pricier of a kitchen upgrade would be adding a new sink.  This is also something that is a little more difficult to do but can be done if you or your spouse is a handy type that can do a little plumbing.

I am eyeing a new farmhouse sink! No surprise there, huh?  One would be just lovely in my farmhouse kitchen.   PlumbTile carries several different farmhouse sinks and kitchen sinks in general.  I have my eye on this one...

Again, upgrading your kitchen doesn't have to break the bank.  By making the above changes you can really improve the look of your kitchen which will also add value if you decide to sell.

Have you done any kitchen upgrades recently?  What did you do and how did it go?  Let me know in the comments below as I'm just getting started. :)

  1. How exciting! Kitchen updates are so much fun! We recently painted our kitchen cabinets white and put up subway tile too. It's definitely worth doing it yourself. Good luck!

  2. Yes, you are completely right. There is no need to renovate from scratch, only few changes are enough to give new look to the old kitchen.
